Three close friends, Mannu (Taapsee Pannu), Buggu (Vikram Kochhar), and Balli (Anil Grover), who are based in the small Punjabi village of Laltu, are tired of their lives and want to succeed financially. London is their ideal travel destination, but getting there isn't simple. Then Shah Rukh Khan's character Hardy enters the scene. Hardy, a streetwise guy and professional soldier, gradually becomes close to the three and assures them that their dream will come true.

Balli uses Hardy's ruse to obtain a London VISA, but for others, there's really only one choice: Donkey Flight, the colloquial term for illegal immigration. Despite facing many dangers along the way, Hardy, Mannu, and Buggu manage to arrive at their dream land. However, when Hardy, Mannu, and Baggu learn about the negative aspects of illegal immigrants' lives, what follows truly shocks them.

Review of the film Dunki: A script analysis

I adore all of Rajkumar Hirani's movies. He's always been an incredible filmmaker, but I'm equally in awe of his writing. If you look closely, you'll see that Hirani's film stories are fairly straightforward. The screenplay and the characters are what elevate movies to new heights. His films have always excelled at portraying characters with a backstory, situational humor, and a well-placed emotional element.

Despite having a strong cast that includes Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi, and Kanika Dhillon, Dunki is a weak movie. They had an intriguing idea about illegal immigration, but they were unable to turn it into a more compelling narrative. The movie could have been much better and at times seems unconvincing. While there are a few heartfelt and truly humorous scenes that elevate Dunki to a new level, the overall momentum is lost. Characters don't even really stand out.

The work of the cinematography team, which includes Kumar Pankaj, Amit Roy, Manush Nandan, and C. K. Muraleedharan, is passable. Some scenes clearly show that the VFX was created in a studio, so it could have been better.

Review of the film Dunki: Stars Acting Performance

Shah Rukh Khan blends in effortlessly with Rajkumar Hirani's painting. His charm and sense of humor fit Hardy's persona perfectly. Although he seems natural in the movie, there are a few moments where he doesn't look quite right. On the other hand, he excels in a court scene!

Mannu is portrayed well by Taapsee Pannu, and she has a lighthearted and effortless chemistry with Shah Rukh Khan. As Buggu, Vikram Kochhar has also performed admirably and never fails to make you laugh.

In a brief appearance, Vicky Kaushal did an excellent job, and his character is one of Dunki's highlights.

Review of the film Dunki: Direction, Music

In terms of producing commercial entertainers with powerful social messages, Rajkumar Hirani is one of the best directors in India. Despite having an intriguing idea in his possession, he was unable to meet the caliber of his earlier work when he was given the chance again. The film's ill-conceived narrative is the reason. I wish Dunki contained more scenes like the one in Gulati's Classes or the suicide scene, which evokes a very Rajkumar Hirani feeling.

Lutt Putt Gaya has the best music, and Pritam's music is passable. The circumstances in the movie complement Chal Ve Watna and O Maahi.

Review of the film Dunki: The Final Word

All things considered, Dunki offers both advantages and disadvantages. It's not the cinematic magic I was expecting from Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani. I hope the two collaborate again in the future, but with a better plot and execution.
